From Domain Authority 5 to 72, Then AI Search
Head of Growth, Decktopus AI
Building organic search from almost nothing, and getting ready for the day people stopped only googling.
The situation
When I started, Decktopus had almost no search presence: a domain authority of 5. Paid ads worked, but every user cost money. We needed a channel that kept bringing people in without paying for each click.
What I did
I built the SEO program from the ground up: keyword strategy, a content plan around what people actually search for, technical fixes, and links from partner sites. As the product changed, I kept old articles accurate instead of letting them go stale, later with my own automation. When AI assistants started answering questions directly, I started working on AI search visibility early, so Decktopus would be the tool those answers mention.
What I learned
SEO is a long game that pays back for years, but only if you keep the old content alive. And AI search rewards the same thing good SEO always did: being the clearest answer to a real question.
What changed
Domain authority grew from 5 to 72, with an estimated $25K+ in organic traffic value, and organic search became one of Decktopus's steady growth channels.
